AK 47

Not much I've not owned over the years, but being a Cold War vet, I never wanted much to do with an AK47. I owned one that I never shot, and I've briefly shot a couple others, owned by my friends.

Guess I can't stick to my convictions, as I bought one today. It's a Serbian NPAP M70, whatever that all means.

I've been researching these for a while, and it seems it's considered far from the best, but also far from the worst.

Anybody else shoot these?

The Serb NPAP MOD. 70 is one of the better AKs on the market. Much better than most of the WASR/century crap pumped out.

They do great in all the 3 gun shoots I've attended.

The front sites aren't canted. The Mag wells are cut right (not dremmeled). The triggers are better. Can't complain from what I've experienced.

I don't currently own an AK platform, but have had several over the years. Never owned a NPAP 70, but a buddy does and shooting several, it's better than most of what I've shot in the AK.

If it shoots any better or is any more reliable than my WASR "crap" it will be a damn fine rifle..............LOL!!!

Mine NEVER fails to cycle, regardless the garbage you feed it and is surprisingly accurate. Mine is as accurate at 100 yards, with both irons and optics, as my M&P sport AR with cheap ammo. Put good ammo in the AR and it's better, but I suspect the AK would better as well with better ammo, but never buy any. I have run about 6 of the 880 round "ham" cans of cheap ammo through mine and cleaned it once or twice...........LOL!!!

I enjoy its wasr little brother; got an ak-74 that shoots cheap 5.45 x 39; spam cans used to be $0.11/rnd for tula or wolf corrosive; fun to shoot & almost cheaper than .22 lr;
both rnds are now apprx $0.24;
They aren't a fine wine or bourbon but more akin to a $3 sixpack; Enjoy for what they are. I do.

Well, took it to the range today. Were too many other folks there, so I only put about twenty rounds thru it. Functioned flawlessly, and with regularity I could bust clay pigeons at fifty yards with the iron sights. And I gotta say, these iron sights are really low. Had to squeeze all the blood out of my cheek to get into the sights. That, and the buttstock loosened up almost immediately. Tightened it up and the little gun is good to go.

It's hard to beat an AK for reliability and low to no maintenance. They have parts available everywhere should you ever need any and 7.62x39 ammo is world wide as are magazines. I own and have built several including a 7" pistol. Enjoy it and shoot the heck out of it

I have a Ak made by Arsenal arms and it will nail the gong at 200 yards all day long.
They cost a little more but are accurate.

I have never had any problem owning the "enemy's" weapons. I have an SKS, no AK yet, it has served its purpose well, rugged, reliable, easy to manufacturer, its round serves its function well.
