Hmm, for us it was the old protein foam. For those that don't have a clue, think of long dead stuff.

This reminds of the days when we had B-29's. The flightLine crews fueled their cigarette lighters from the drain petcock from the underside if the B-29 wings. They all leanred to hold the lighter at arms length before zipping the little abrasive wheel to fire the lighter. One zip and the flame flared up about two feet.

A lot easier to light a signal/survival fire with the lowly zippo :shock: 8)

Heck, I can't think of anyone, smoker or not that didn't carry a zippo. Darned things sure come in handy. Never smoked, but still keep one in my pocket. If nothing else, they make great conversation starters. Naturally, mine has the USAF seal on it.

Zippo Lighter reminds me of my Grandpa Charlie White; He was a pipe smoker (Half and Half tobacco described by him as Half weeds and half -dried horse "dung"); Anyway, he used a Zippo Lighter with his pipe and carried it in the pocket of his overalls. One day he was complaining about this RED sore spot on his leg; I inquired what he was doing to treat it and he said, "Same as I do with ANY sore I get, I put some 'Coal Oil' on it". I told him to QUIT overfilling his Zippo lighter as the fluid would BURN his leg ad blister it and that COAL OIL was the worst thing he could put on it!! I got him some burn ointment we had at home and that DID clear it up. Only time I ever saw that old Farm Boy not be able to "cure" something.
