I was given a Ruger semi auto 22 to dispose of for my sister in law whos dad owned it, I know this guy did not fool around/change stuff on his guns but unfortuanly he can't answer any of my questions so here goes:
Serial number is 0505 with a Red eagle on one/left grip 4 inch barrel wide aluminum trigger
two tone magazine
no model number/name o the frame or barrel
Strum, Ruger & Co
Southport, Conn usa on the one side of the reciver
Very good condition

So what is the age?
Was this one with the red eagle before Strum died?
Approximate value as it will be for sale
Thanks any help/info is appricated

Yessir, that is indeed one of the early vintage guns, late 1949, the type 1 Red eagle and if the condition is "up there" , nice the value would be in the upper hundreds , $750 to almost $1000 but this is based on CONDITION, it drops off pretty fast and drastically but the fact it is a 3 digit gun (even with the 0 in there, they did use 4 digits) there will be a premium on the gun, and hopefully you have the "package" ( box) some of the early ones came in a wooden carton ( salt cod box) and the first ones did not even have the inner ,one piece hinged red & white box, some were simply wrapped in some newspaper......you'd best contact Ruger and get a shipping date as some of the lower number guns were shipped later,so this is important to find out...NICE gun, and if it has the salt cod box you can MORE than double the value of the "package", last one we saw was over $2000...........good luck, sounds like a winner to me, and if someone is LOOKING for the "numbers", you may do even better.....

I am really surprised that no -one else has commented on such an early model Red Eagle,,,,these guys all claim to be "numbers" hunters...unless they are trying to contact you "off line", PM or even knocking on your door.....in the old days , ones phone would NOT stop ringing 8)
may you should take a picture or two of it and play "show & tell" wake up the peanut gallery.....
