Advice to parents.

We have all heard the stories of how kids are told write an essay on an activity they had with their family, and if it's something Non-PC like going shooting, the family is contacted by the Thought Police.
The next time your child brings home such an assignment, tell them to write:
1. We hold séances.
2. We practice black magic.
3. I have an uncle who is a Voodoo master. If someone is mean to him, he gets a lock of their hair and....

Teach kids not to lie or make up stories.
If shooting is a family activity teach the to be proficient, proud and safe. Not cower
and hide for doing an American tradition. Teach your kids about the second amendment and be proud of it. Shooting sports whether acceptable or not by
school administration is not my concern! Screw em. Bring up children to be honest
and good citizens shooting is something to be proud of. Giving in to PC is one of America's ailments. I'll stop here I do not want to offend. ps

While it may be fun to make up a wild story like that,,, or do something to provoke them into checking y'all out,,, I agree with powder smoke.
Writing about something that is a Right, guaranteed by the Constitution,,, is not something to cower from.
Instead, lead off the essay by saying something like;
" My family has strong beliefs in Freedom, our History, and what the Founding Fathers fought & died for. The Bill of Rights guarantees the Freedom of Speech, as well as the right to Keep & Bear Arms. While I fully understand the current levels of concerns about firearms in schools & all,,, a school is supposed to be a place of learning the TRUTH,, and as such, my essay is about what my family does to support our belief in the Constitution & the Freedoms it guarantees."

From there,,, the essay can delve into the actual activity. If a school teacher, principal, or board etc has objections,,, then you can embarrass them by pointing out the narrow minded attitude, and the FACT they are not allowing freedom of speech, or support for the Constitution.

While Grandson was in high school one of his major projects was to write an essay. His was about the impotence (Well Maybe I meant Importance ) of Concealed Carry and The Second Amendment.
Well since this is Texas he got an A on it

Writing about something that is a Right, guaranteed by the Constitution,,, is not something to cower from.

Instead, lead off the essay by saying something like;
