I recounted on another forum my first reloading outfit.

When I was in high school I converted my .45 Colt New Service to .44 Special. One of my high school girl friends gave me a Lyman 310 Tong tool for Christmas. As she gave it to me, her words were, "Don't blow yourself up."

(I didn't, or course. And have not as of yet.)

I started reloading when I was 18 with a little Lyman kit, reinforced a shelf in my parents storage building on which to mount the Spartan press. Loaded .45 Colt ammo for my old model Ruger 7.5". I'm pretty sure my folks thought I'd probably blow myself up along with their storage building. I've managed not to do so for nigh 50 years now, but I guess there's still time. Ha.

Friend started me out by getting me to help cast bullets for his 44 OM Blackhawk. Then I helped by sizing with a SAECO Lubrisizer and blue lube sticks. Of course I helped shoot them too. That started my down fall into buying molds, pots, Rockchucker and all the rest. Had a reloading bench next to my engine stand and shop tools. Those were the 'good ole days'. My wife of back then also said, 'don't blow yourself up'!

I once met a girl that smelled like Hoppes #9, not Channel #9. I married her.....eventually. (Now, 49 years later and she still shoots guns)

If my girlfriend had given me a Lyman 310 I would have married her on the spot. Did you???

Well, no. We drifted apart while I was in the Army and she was in college. But those times represent a rather painful interval in my life time.

I didn't marry my wife for wearing Hoppes #9, but I will say it didn't hurt when she gave me a S&W model 29 for a wedding present. Still have the wife and the .44, forty five years now.
My son recently married a wonderful girl. She, and both her Mom and Dad carry daily. Of course, my son has been shooting since I bought him his first .22 rifle at age 7.

Unbeknownst to either of them, both called me on the sly asking for recommendations on different handguns.

We couldn't meet for Christmas because of weather, but on Christmas morning they sent us a picture of 2 Rugers under the tree.

Hoppe’s should make candles, car fragrance thingies, and maybe even cologne

Sounds like a sensible, reasonable ex-girlfriend … can I have her number?
