adjustable sights on standard auto

I have a Ruger standard auto 22. It has fixed sights and I would like to know if they can be replaced by adjustable rear sights and front sight from a mark I. If not is there any other option to get adjustable sights?

cztrouba, I put a set of Millets on my 4 3/4 standard auto. They work great, but the front sight is very high.

Welcome to the Forum!
Getting a rear sight to fit the dovetail of the rear sight channel,,, isn't as big of an issue as getting a proper height front sight. Usually ,, it doesn't work too easily. I believe there used to be a manufacturer who tried to iffer a repalcable set of sights that were adjustable,, but didn't sell too many.
Most folks who decide they want an adjustable sighted gun,, either buy a second one,, or sell/swap the Std off & buy a new one.

WELL NOW....Let me note right here and now, there are NO sights better than fixed sights if---if!!!---they are fixed in the right place. Why don't you see to it that they are indeed fixed in the right place. The last two MKII 4 3/4" STANDARD Ruger pistols I bought both shot a bit to the left for me. We drifted the rear sight to the right a bit and both pistols are tackdriver accurate out to 100 yards.
I mean to tell you I have cleaned house with these pistols and have never spent a millionth of a second wondering where the sights were.

Are the mark I adjustable sights the wrong size dovetail or are they just the wrong height?

Wrong height. If you install the Ruger production adjustable sights you will need a seriously taller front blade. Hence, the low profile adjustable versions.

I've owned a MK I with 4 3/4" barrel for over 40 years. The Ruger adjustable rear sight is just too tall for the 4 3/4" tapered barrel front sight. You could have a gunsmith make you a taller front sight, but it just looks wrong. In recent years there have been some Wilson and Millett low profile adjustable rear sights that probably will work. Tap the MK I's rear sight left or right for windage, then shoot a lot of rounds and learn the "Kentucky" windage for your pistol and shooting style. My MK I is my go-to for carry while bushwacking to a fishing hole. Oh, if you can find one of the old Ramline plastic clips that holds 14 rounds, they work great in a MK I.
