1- Whats the difference between a 226 and a 228 West German Sig? [ both 9MM ]??? A local LE that shoots Plates told me to look for one.

2. Who can you trust , online Dealers for one to buy??? It must be in GOOD Condition- or Better!

1/2 inch less barrel length, and 2 rounds.

CDNN had WG LE 226 turn-ins for $379 a while ago ... I got one and it was in the original serial numbered box and looked like it had never been fired. I also got a P6 (or P225) for $279 from CDNN ... also like new, in the original box. THey both shoot exactly the same ... spectacularly accurate.

Buy a used Sig with total confidence.

About that time when the P-6s were coming in I was at a gun show & had a dealer try to sell me a 225 for $275. I think 225 is right. It was the civilian equivalent of a P6 IIRC. He had took it in trade on a rifle & was looking to turn it for some quick cash. Thats one I kinda wish I hadn't let slip by but i just couldn't justify spending the money at the time.

Yup, I have one, too (P225/P6). Paid under $300 for it with a second mag, and the mags go for $45 or so, when you can find them.

The P228 is the "Fed gun", adopted by many federal agencies. 9mm only, it's a great weapon with great balance, and the original isn't cluttered up with a frame rail or "tactical" square trigger guard. They've recently brought out a few "new" P228s which are built of P229 frames (with the rail and square trigger guard).

The P229 is the newer version of the P228 with the tactical touches, and supports .40 S&W and .357 Sig on the same frame.

Personally, I'd jump all over that WG P228 if I didn't already have one. It likely has a carbon steel slide. The new ones have a blackened stainless slide, which is better in some ways but worse in others. The WG guns are almost always better than the US guns, IMO. Some like the newer US models due to particular updates, but if you want the gun that made Sig famous, get a German one.
