Nicely done! Thank you for sharing. My brother has a 1917 Smith that was made in August of 18 and shipped to London a couple months after. He got it from my grandfather. I told him if he ever decides to sell it, to definitely call me first. I love the history tied to that gun.

I looked at the targets... I don't know if you should be advertising about practicing shooting someone in the back....

I picked up a Brazilian-surplus S&W 1917 several years ago. It has a 1937 date, and probably saw service in Italy with Brazilian troops. There's not much finish, and the grips were so deteriorated I made replacements. But the single-action trigger is light and crisp, the double-action smooth. I can't say how accurate it is, as I'm not a great shooter.

Thanks for posting that, it was a treat to read! I own only a few small .38 special short-barrel revolvers and a P64 9mm Makarov, but i have always wanted a 1911. I have shot one, and i agree, a great firearm, and, very possibly the best. Anyway, that part about "stupidly sold" really hit home, at least i'm not the only one who suffers from that affliction! A good read, thanks again.
