OK, WHILE WE ARE DREAMING.....A 348 1-S or a 1-S in 358

ABSOLUTELY. Would buy one in a heartbeat.....348 baby. How neat would that be to have a 71 and a No 1 in 348? Ruger could be the first to chamber the 348 after Winchester. To my knowledge, nobody else has done it except for maybe a custom job or two.

Well if we want morbund cartridges how about a real good one-the arguably best long distance cartridge-216 Barrett! The 348 never ammounted to anything because it did not do anything that other cartridges didn't do better.

BTW how about the 338 Lupua?

I think 264 win mag ,338 lapua ,,375 Winchester ,444marlin ,250 savage ,405 Winchester,416 Ruger ,470 capstick,500 s&w .I think runs of 2000 of each should sell pretty good !

Aside from the .250-3000, and the 500 Smith, there's a nice list of obscure, dead in the water, or limited niche market cartridges - 2,000 of each?

Really???

I'm also in the 348 camp. I believe a typical lipseys run of 250 of these would go very quickly. I think that $1500 price tag is the biggest hurdle for a No.1 any more. Heck, for an extra $500 you can order a hand built C Sharps 1885!

I love the No. 1, but talked myself out of the current 450 Marlin version being offered due to the price tag. A 348 I would be one of the first in line though!

I have to agree that the current MSRP and street price has pretty much assured the long predicted demise of the No.1...how very, very sad.

Priced me out of the market with the latest desirable offerings, IF I get a new one, something has to go down the line to pay for it.

Is the new MSRP only $1500? Hell, I though they would be bumping $2000 by now.

Can't remember the last NIB #1 I bought and can't imagine ever buying another. Their new offerings are insipid, they have not made any #1 specific upgrades -- say , in triggers, bedding, or stock design-- since intro, and the current wood is mostly chipper grade.

Everything is expensive these days. When you consider a nice SW revolver is near a grand, a $1500 street price on a high quality rifle is about right.

While we are dreaming. How about some decent wood?? For the Price. Set the wood standards, and price accordingly. Right now the Price is relatively high. The wood quality is 2x4 or AAA+ all at the same mark.

A No. 1 American in any common or current fad cartridge would out-sell all others combined.

I did not get one of the Ruger 308 No. 1 Internationals a couple years ago. Have a blued on in in 30-06 on the left below. I keep looking for one of the 308s. I missed the No. 1 International in 308 and SS. Well I keep looking for one. Below a few rifles in 30-06.

One with the semi beavertail fore end and the 24" barrel in 6.5 Creedmoor, failing that in
case such is already out there, the same stock and barrel in 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, both
