A new coat of paint that is
Well since Son was on leave from that Navy Pilot stuff and Grandson was off from Texas A&M for the Holidays. The question to me was "Hey Gramps lets put a new coat of paint on "J" Bird". Well what could I say, besides I needed a break from working on the Pacer.
The SNJ was painted in 1994. The paint was still good just getting a little dull and some minor corrosion in spots. So I packed up my spray guns and headed for Corpus Christi. "Have Gun Will Travel" We removed all the panels, fairings, and remove/treated the corrosion along with sanding the old paint and primed spots.
After painting all the hardware was replaced with new CORRECT size stainless stuff.
After flying for an hour yesterday with none of the paint falling off we decided it was a good decision.
Is it as nice as New strip and paint $30K+ paint job? NO. Is it now a nice flat shinny $500.00 job? Yep sure is.
