A la A Christmas Story …

Since this isn’t about a Ruger I figured this was the place to post this…
My wife hadn’t yet bought my “significant” Christmas gift (meaning NOT socks and underwear ) by last weekend so she asked me if I had picked up “that gun” I was thinking about? She told me to go ahead and pick it up for my Christmas gift. I had been watching a Rossi R92 in .454 Casull a local dealer had on display for the last several months’ gun shows. He had been asking WAY too much for it so I went by his storefront this week and made him a lowball offer based on the cheapest price I had seen them go for on GB, which he accepted after a little haggling. (Quite a bit less than the price tag shown in this hasty photo). It is now wrapped and set behind the little credenza next to our Christmas tree, a la A Christmas Story!

I got tired of waiting for the Marlin in .45C… of course when /if it DOES come out…

I have a partial box of Buffalo Bore 300 grain and another of Magtech 260 grain rounds in my stash for my Super Redhawk, and a fresh one of the Magtech in my stocking… Once they’re expended I’ll be reloading them, but mostly I expect to reload .45C sized up to .454 OAL.

I’m a firm believer in heavier, larger diameter projectiles!

Don’t believe I need a 475 Linebaugh lever gun as I don’t believe there’s anything that would take a round from my 45-70 and walk away.

Little rifle is right! I looked at the 16” in .45C and the front sight seemed so close. I finally settled on the 20” in .454 to get a “bit” more stopping power and range.
