Well I wanted this when Chad put it up for sale but the ALASKAN DEVIL aka Scott beat me to it....

So I had to make a DEAL with the DEVIL

It never ceases to amaze me what 1K will buy......right Mr Devil....I mean Scott

It will go good with my 44 FT display....RR

Well,
If everyone must know, I gave it to him for doing me a favor! OR should I go Paul Harvey on you now? with the rest of the story!

I made a deal with Rod, who knows how many guns where talking here, he or I cant recall half the time. well I failed math....and was off 1K.....adding I was giving him what he wanted In the full asking price for the guns he was selling....I explained....told him the truth...felt dumb doing it.....But he understood and was kind enough to understand.....after I explained, I offered to pay the extra 1K as my word, is my word....he said NOPE...he get's it....

I offered up "A" I owe you one, told him you have 3 doors to choose from....he took door # 3....the 1956 letter.....I shipped it to him, and paid the shipping.....

Thanks Rod.....Your Friend Scott

Well Dan, I could borrow that old HD saying :!: :!: :!:

If I have to tell you....you wouldn't understand

But I will tell you because I know you do understand 8) 8) 8)

Just so I am clear what part don't you get ???

The significance of the letter signed by the MAN HIMSELF or Scott being compared to the Devil ???

The letter is just another "LINK IN THE CHAIN" to quote TA....and Scott isn't the DEVIL

I wish it wasn't an endless chain    RR

Thanks "PAUL"....I was typing as you posted

Oh I understand, the "importance", had lots of stuff like that years ago ,we gave to Doris C as well as others, you have one I think Laura gave to Don W. announcing the 10/22 from Bob Deardon was in your 10/22 display, so I question the "value"??? or dealing with the 'devil', hell, Scott ain't THAT bad  .....there is LOTS of correspondence from plain folks asking LOTS of questions, or where is it at? when are you going to ship?
Thought maybe that was THE original Davey Jones, and it came from his locker....... 8)

(did not want folks to THINK you were that gullible.......)

Hey Calling Scott the "AK DEVIL" is much better than what I call him in person

The 1K reference was an inside joke with Mr Devil.....he made me an offer that I gladly accepted...

Then 6 weeks later realized he was not very sharp in his math....

The letter was his way of saying sorry....as he posted earlier...sorry for the confusion....

TA....YES lets hope he used that very pen of his that I now own to sign this letter :!: :!: :!: RR

Glad you got that Rod! Was one of the better pieces of paper I've had.
An interesting story for you...Back in the late '80's we saw a man and his dad walking around the Des Moines 4H building gun show carrying a Ruger muzzle brake that he wanted to sell (A brand new in the brown box INC muzzle brake). Well after expressing our interest he moved on...but called a couple days later to ask us if we still wanted it...they couldn't find any takers at the show.
Sure!! So they stopped at our house and the deal was done. At the same time the man's son said they had some other Ruger literature stuff at the house and asked if I'd be interested in that too.
As I recall there was '53 catalog in the envelope, a '56 Catalog in the envelope (the rare one with .44 BKH and tri-color Lightweight) and there was also this signed Ruger letter with envelope. Yup...I walked home with that stuff too as well as an early undated Single-Six instruction manual.
Well, never did see either Jones again (both are Dave) until about 10 years later when I was dating my future lovely bride. Turned out that the younger Dave Jones would be my future brother-in-law!
His dad would purchase one of each new Ruger model as it came out...and it started with at least the .357 Blackhawk as he had the first one in Boone County, Iowa...serial number 358 and a mate to Bob Campbell's #357 .357 Blackhawk.
Sadly, the younger Dave had to sell most of the old collection decades ago, but the stories are still with us. He tried tracking #358 down again, without success.
