A great week in Saskatchewan..

My Dad, Brother and myself went up to Saskatchewan last week after the big Whitetails..been 8 yrs since I have been able to get up there.. the deer were winding down on the rut and starting to feed a little more, and were moving pretty good..saw lots of nice bucks the first couple of days, including a nice 5x5 that walked in from the brush on my left..well I started videoing the deer and then he turned to face me and I saw this:

after that I figured maybe I should shut down the camera and get my Ruger 77 out the window of the blind.. of course about that time he chased a doe out of the area and did not come back.. after watching the video that night I was sick, since this one was a good one..
Thankfully the next day he came easing back in, and I left the camera alone!

this one 6 1/2 yrs old, heavy body and heavy horns..had real nice split brow tines on both sides, and grossed 174 5/8 B/C.. now I gotta spend a little more money on taxidermy!!

I would LOVE to go up there for whitetails BUT I could not use my revolvers so I have to pass. :x Stupid gun laws up north.

That's a big bodied deer. Any idea what he weighed?

The outfitter said about 325 pounds live weight.. most of the older mature bucks seem to all run in the 300-325 range...

Yeah, my Dad had a nice 4x4 Muley walk in the first day...not a shooter quality but we couldn't shoot Mule Deer anyways.. We were right on the edge of Muley areas..

I have to side with Robb on his point about not being able to use a handgun north of the border. I'll just have to suffer in the lower 48 with my handguns and smaller deer!
