A different type of Ford

This past week I went on a field trip with my son to the local pumpkin patch and we got a hay ride which was hauled around by a different type of tractor than I normally see. They had a pair of Ford's not too sure the model number, but they sure were interesting and I know someday if and when I get my own tractor for around here, I wouldn't pass one of these up.

The top one is a Golden Jubilee or a 640 model. That's what the emblem on the nose shows. 1953 was the Golden Jubilee year and it was produced in 1953 and 1954. It has an OHV motor where the ubiquitous 8N has a flathead. Interesting to note that Ford didn't come out with the OHV V8 until 1954. The 640 model came out in 1954.

I spent a lot of hours in the seat of a Jubilee. You've never plowed until you've done it with a one bottom plow. It takes forever but that's what the tractor would pull through thick Missouri soil.

Hi I used many of both growing up on a dairy farm as a kid they felt like driving a race car on the dirt roads in high gear there are many still in use today around here

Yep, top one looks like a 640 based on sheet metal markings. I am finishing up negotiations to buy one with loader and mower (and power steering). Great vintage tractors.

Not sure what model the bottom one is but the red paint showing through the blue suggests an "upgrade".

Those are still very common in Ga.

We had them when I was growing up...though they were nearing 20yrs old at the time. They were a vast improvement over the earlier 8N and TO 20&30 Ferguson tractors...but not even close to the 3cyl diesel tractors that Ford brought to market starting in 1965.
