My grandfather is selling a couple guns to help out another family member. My grandfather used to hunt but got out of it. He's had the guns in his basement in a gun cabinet for as long as I could remember, but to be honest I'd never really got them out to look at. My dad is helping him sell a couple and he showed them to me tonight when I was over.
One was a Damascus double barrel shotgun with hammers. I beleive made by Foremost (if I recall). Really nice gun in 85% condition
The second was an LC smith 12 gauge field grade. It was his dad's and he hunted with it all the time. It's used, most of the bluing is gone and there is a nice patina. One small crack on the forearm but otherwise still tight and clean. Neat thing was he had the original tags, manuals and parts list
The third was by far the most incredible. An original Smith Carbine, 50 caliber, serial number 7xx. He already had it graded by a gun smith at 98% original condition. It was so clean it didn't look like it was ever fired. Bluing was spectacular. All original parts. The wood was in great shape. Just an incredible 140 year old rifle. One issue with the latch spring inside but my great grandfather actually bought the part to fix it, 70 years ago, and never did. The part was still with the rifle.
Next time I'm over I'm going to get some pictures to post. Just some really awesome history.
