77/357

I saw a couple of used 77/357s the other day. Both priced at $519, buy at $500 plus tax. Don't see too many of them available but think I would like one.

You folks that have them, do you have any input (good or bad) about them? I hear the accuracy is good, are there any negatives?

They are still fairly new to the market, and there's already some used ones for sale? Sounds like some expectations were not met. It does seem to be rather expensive for a pistol caliber rifle. Even the new Ruger American Rifle is $200 less and comes in decent rifle calibers. For me, buying a Marlin lever action in 357 made more sense...more round capacity, faster cycling, and just as good in accuracy.

From what I have heard the feedback on these is quite good. The rifles in question are in a pawn shop. The first one belongs to an employee that has his eye on a different rifle to play with and the other was brought back so the guy could fix his truck. The second rifle looks to be shot very little. The Ruger American is cheaper but not a valid comparison to a 77/357. I have bolt rifles in more than adequate rifle calibers for whatever I want to do. I also have a Marlin lever in .357 that my Nephew is borrowing... for about a year now. In this case, more rounds is not relevant. This would be a companion rifle to go with GP100s, Blackhawks, SP101s, etc. My wife would shoot it as well... Nice and easy for carrying and I might shoot a deer with it, just because I can...

I've had a good experience with mine. Accurate and loads of fun. I also have a Marlin 1894C and NEF Handi-Rifle in .357.

The 77/357 may end up being the newest "44 mag No. 3" made... I shudder to think what the 77 Carbines in 7.62x39 are going for today

I have one and it is a blast. It had an aful trigger take-up for about 30-40 rounds, but slicked up then and is now around 4# on my Lyman gauge. Perfect for a woods gun for short-range deer or small game. For nuisance 'coons or 'yotes, it has no peer.
