Found a like new 173- prefix half lug at local pawn shop. It looks new without box. I could bring it home for $450 out the door. My question is if that's a good price and how scarce are the 1/2 lug?

Scarce enough I've not seen one in any of my LGS's here in Jax, FL. And I would slurp up most any good condition GP100 at that price if I wanted that model. All I ever see here are the standard full lug four inch in blued steel and stainless steel and six inch full lug stainless but I've only seen one full lug blued steel full lug GP100 for sale and the guy in front of me bought it. I've not seen a three inch, any fixed sight versions, or any of the half lugs.

I think that the half-lug GP100 is pretty scarce and you won't see them very often. I bought mine new in 2007 (175 serial prefix with Houge grips) and don't recall seeing another since. I think $450 is a good price especially if it has the original style rubber and wood insert grips that some of us prefer.
More importantly, the six inch half-lug barrel balances nicely for me and handles like it has a shorter barrel, if that makes sense. Get it. I think you'll be happy.

Unless you have a particular yen for half-lugs, I say why?
I got my brand-new (blued) 6" full-lug for $480.
