I just finished this 500 JRH BFR and thought I'd post a picture. It started as an 8.5" even though the Bud's Gun Shop ad and MRI box stated 5.5". Sounds like they have this corrected going foward though.

In the end I'm glad they shipped it long. We cut the barrel to 6.0" which I find to be the perfect length. The extra 0.5" aids balance, at least it does for me. We also added a 2Dogs front post sight made out of stainless. Jack Huntington reconfigured the backstrap and fit high-grade walnut panels. If you own a BFR I highly recommend the JRH reshape:

It's basically matched to my 475 with the exception of the grip material.

Those grips turned out beautiful! I can't wait to send mine off and this gorgeous chunk of English walnut sitting on my desk. Very nice, Lee!

That walnut is outstanding Max. I should've bought a chunk when you got yours. I'm just glad Jack had some on hand....as with all of his work they exceeded expectations.

that is a cool pair of 5 shooters add the sights from 2dogs and the new grips really seem to finish the guns off

Thanks. I just wish Magnum Research would adopt a similar backstrap and front-sight. In my opinion they're the only downsides with the BFR.

I guess I never paid attention but I always thought that the sight on your .475 was one that you and your dad made and I was wondering this whole time what the sites from 2dogs looked like

These mods completely change the look of the BFR -- for the better. They both look fantastic!

I am taking orders for these front sights at this time. They are available for the BFR and the Single Six. Details in the linked thread. Updated list in post #33.
