30-06 is obviously better as I have 3 of those and no 270's Goes with out saying which is the better cartridge.

Everybody Knows the 30-06 is the winner because of the wide variety of bullet weights available for it. And for those who like the 270 just run the case through a 30-06 die and load 30 cal bullets in it get you a good rifle in 30-06 and use your 270 hulls resized to 30 caliber then you have the best of both worlds. You can pull out a hull and see 270 stamped on the back and load a real bullet in it.

The is too much of a good thing for deer-sized game and not enough for stuff much larger. IMHO, too in between. The .308 is more efficient for bullets up to 180gr. and fits into shorter, lighter rifles. The `06 only really shines with heavy 220's at which point, I'd bring a bigger hammer. A jack of many trades and master of none. Like the .357Mag.

Colt revolvers come in six standard calibers.
Choose the classic .45 Long Colt or any of five others to suit your taste: .357, .32/20, .38 Special, .44/40, and .38/40.
I call it both at different times...does it really matter?

I believe the only reason 'they' call it the 'Long Colt' anymore is because the 'population' (that's us) as a whole still 'propagate'/'relate to' the alias rather than just use the proper term .45 Colt as it was originally named. Thing is, the reason the alias existed now no longer exists.... But you still see 'LC' and 'Long Colt' in a lot of posts, articles, and advertisements.... <sigh> Oh well, It comes down to marketing..... :roll: There are those that know better and those that don't

.There is that! Still they should have called the New Vaquero something different like the 'Equalizer' or 'Vaquero II' (Like Mark I, Mark II, and now Mark III), or... etc. . Sure would have saved a lot of 'confusion'!

Colt is catering to the ignorant. Who cares what the marketing people print in the literature? Colt has had its head up its posterior for 50yrs. They have only recently started building SAA's right and have always recommended against shooting them in the manual. How much credibility do they really have?
I know they have it on the website, it's been posted in this thread already and I knew it 15yrs ago when I first participated in this argument. However, I said to show me a Colt SAA that is stamped ".45 Long Colt". You can't do it, they don't exist.
