Hondo44 and I have been emailing back and forth regarding the Ruger New Vaquero that were manufactured from 2005 to 2009.
I was telling him that over the past 3.5 years while I was collecting as many large frame Vaqueros as I could afford, I was also keeping track of the early New Vaqueros that were still being case colored on the cylinder frame. I was telling him of how few of these guns have come to market over that same 3.5 year period. Jim thought that between late 2005 through 2009 approximately 70,000, New Vaqueros were produced. Possibly 35,000 or more were stainless steel, which would leave the other 35,000 or so, case color and blue. All in the various barrel lengths, 7.5, 5.5, 4 ¾.
I was telling him, in that time period I have seen the following on the market. 4 of the 7.5” brl., 5 of the 5.5” brl., and 3 of the 4 & ¾” brl. I know of 3 Forum members that that have a 5.5” model, and have seen a pair of 5.5” models on the Cow Boy Action Shooting site for sale, as well as a 5.5” in 357cal. If there is another 34,982 guns out there why don’t we see more of them on the market for sale?
I could hold out no longer I had to have my three.
