I'm reloading .45 ACP using 230 gr. lead round nose (LRN) bullets and Titegroup powder. I've been using the data from the Hodgdon website. It lists the starting load for 751 fps @ 4.0 gr. The Hornady lists it as 4.2 gr for 750 fps. The Lyman 7th Edition lists it as 4.5 gr for 735 fps. They list the max as follows:
Hodgdon 4.8 gr for 855 fps
Hornady 5.3 gr for 900 fps
Lyman 5.1 gr for 841 fps
Who do you believe? The 4.0 grs under the 230 LRP seems 'softer' than Winchester White Box or Federal American Eagle 230 gr FMJ target ammo, but shoots and cycles just fine in my RIA 1911A1 CS 3.5"bbl Tactical.
Anybody out there have a good load for the 230 gr LRP using Titegroup or 700X (I've got a barrel-full of 700X from my Trap shooting days) out of a 3.5" barreled 1911?
