45 acp cylinder

I know this has been covered but cannot remember detail. I primarily shoot 44 mag because my first big bore was a om super blackhawk. and could never see my way clear to change. HOWEVER, of late I thought a 45 lc vaquero to go with my 44s might be a hoot.

now the question, who and (general idea)how much to have a acp cylinder to a vaquero. I shoot and have lots of 45 acp. sights are not important as it will be a plinker.

IMHO It would probably be cheaper to get a 45 Colt/45 acp convertable. The other option if you found or had a 45 Colt Vaquero would probably be to contact Ruger. Then there are a number of other Ruger smiths that could do it but it would probably be a little to a lot more than what Ruger would charge.

Buy a factory convertable , having one made aftermarket will cost as much as a new pistol . at leaset it did just a few years ago when i tried.

Cheaper and hassle free to buy the convertible. About $200 inc shipping the gun to get an ACP cyl from Ruger and they will only sell and fit you one if your gun was originally a convertible. Much more to have one made custom made.

If the gun you want was produced, which it was and is available, it's always cheaper just to buy the convertible. Search the classified on this forum, Davidson's Gallery of Guns, Gunbroker, etc.

Well I found a acp cylinder that I fitted to this little gal and it's a whoot to shoot, and has turned into one of my favorites.

Recently there has been a run of New Vaquero Sheriffs in 45acp, a little smaller frame and has the cylinder/ chambering you seek, but you better get busy and find one before there gone too.

I have a SS Bisley Convertible and consider it an excellent job in every way. However, it has adjustable sights. I don't believe I would want a convertible with fixed sights. The whole idea is to "hit something" and different weight bullets in .45 Colt and .45 ACP almost guarantee that at least one (and maybe both) will not shoot to the sights.

Just a thought...
