45/45 ACP-I screwed up again

Ordered grips for Redhawk from net. Received grips and discover 44/357 grips do not fit 45 frame. Description on internet failed to mention that they were for 44/357 and I never considered frame size to be different so did not question seller. I now have nice set of rosewood grips and no 44. Sold it years ago. Spent hours on internet looking for holster. N frame holsters will not fit. Where do I get the items I want?

If you bought the round-butt convertible 45 Colt/ACP Red, of course standard square-butt grips won't fit.
Nothing to do with caliber, it's the model & the gripframe configuration.
If you'd bought a NON-convertible Redhawk in .45 Colt, with a square grip-frame, standard Redhawk grips would fit it.

The convertible .45 Red uses the same ROUND-BUTT grips as the .44 Mag Kodiak model.

You have to pay attention to what gripframe you have & what you order for it.
It's the model, not the caliber.

As for holsters, just search Redhawk holsters.
They're all over, including from Ruger.

I'm not understanding your problem.
I have at least five Redhawk holsters here, from various makers.

Try Bianchi, Galco, De Santis, Simply Rugged, El Paso Saddlery.
Those cover a good range of Redhawk leather.
There are several others.

If you can't find leather on the Internet, you're just not trying.

My Redhawks fit N-frame holsters just fine.

You maybe have a Super Redhawk?

I have Galco holsters for N frame and they do not fit. I also have the Bianchi holster. They are too tight. Will check out Simply Rugged. I suppose I got the Square butt grips. Just did not know there was a difference. Had I kept my Ruger 44 Redhawk we probably would not be having this conversation. Thanks all.

You have to pay attention to the gun's configuration.
Standard Redhawk gripframes are square, and standard grips made for standard Reds won't fit any round-butt Redhawk gripframe correctly.

Are you searching for Ruger Redhawk leather?
I can't believe you're not finding it.

I have Redhawk rigs from Galco, I have a De Santis N-Frame holster that fits my Reds perfectly.
All for 4-inchers.
Seriously- How are you searching?

In Googling Redhawk Holster I find De Santis, Ruger, Triple K, Simply Rugged, and others.

Did not want to do a custom holster. I like the Bianchi suede lined with thumb snap. For Redhawks they have 5" bbl but no 4". Will look again. Do not like the screw in the Galco.

Galco has more than one.
Try Triple K.
Ask Bianchi if they'll do a 4-incher for you.
De Santis has three holsters to fit a 4-inch Red.

I have never seen a Bianchi made specifically for the 5.5" Redhawk, but that doesn't mean they don't make them. Out of curiosity I tried my 5.5 gun in my Bianchi Cyclone that is made for a 4" N frame Smith. Fit was perfect with about 1" of barrel sticking out the bottom. I would bet good money that your 4.2" gun would fit perfectly too. I had a 4.2" Redhawk but let it go. I am pretty sure this Cyclone holster was the one I used.

I know you said you don't like the retention screw in the Galco, but the DAO is the best holster I've ever used for my Redhawk. Carries the weight better than any other that I have used, and I have used/tried several.

The speedloader pouch is an older HKS tan leather pouch I got off Ebay, I think I paid $8.00.....

It's marked on the back "HKS 100 Large".

The speedloaders are HKS number 29, fit N frame Smith & Wesson and Ruger Redhawk.

Magnum force, that holster is good. I prefer the closed end holsters. Of course right hand is out of stock. A double speedloader pouch would be perfect for moon clips also.

Try Midway USA, or Ecop. I got mine from Ecop, think it was $50 or so....

Moon clips typically have a loose fit, top to bottom, being much shorter.
They can bounce around.

I had a short set of pouches built specifically for clips by El Paso Saddlery.
They also make holsters for 4-inch Reds.

Is there some reason you don't want the closed bottom Triple K holster that Ruger sells for the 4-inch Red?

As for the holster - I found a used Triple K model 96-2 for my 4.2" Redhawk. It fits perfectly and looks great. Did I mention I got it for about $22 delivered from Ebay? Unfortunately, I did a search to try to provide a link for you, but was unsuccessful. Sorry.

And for the grips - I have a round butt .45 LC/.45 ACP, and I've installed two sets of Pachmyer Grips on it. They both fit and worked just fine! I really prefer the Gripper. Yes, you give up the round-butt aspect of the gun, but the comfort gained shooting is MUCH more than worth it, at least to me.

If you can find a set of square grips that cover the round-butt backstrap, they'll fit OK.
If the square grips leave the backstrap exposed, you'll have an open recess at the bottom.

Sooner or later somebody will start making appropriately sized & configured grips as options to that round-butt.
