44 Flat Top Barrel Address...

I was looking at a couple of my old model Flattops today when I noticed that my 7 1/2” 44 Flattop has the Ruger barrel address on the side of the barrel vs. the Top of the barrel.

Is this unique or something Ruger did with the 7 1/2” revolvers?

As usual, any info and knowledge shared is appreciated.

I thought the only OM's with address on top were the Single Six's.

All my OM's (except Single Six) have the address on the side ..... my 44 FT is 6.5 inch.

That's correct, OM Single Six addresses on top of barrel. All Blackhawks and Super BHs on the left side.
All New Model Single Sixes also had adress on top until the address included the later 'billboard' ~1974. Then all NMs had the billboard on the left side.

When I shorten Single Six OM barrels I turn the barrel 1/4" so the address is on the side and isn't covered by the front sight:

Thanks guys for the education...I am embarrassed to say that I hadn’t noticed the locations were different...now I will.
