44 Carbine.....won't chamber last round.

This is a 1962 model Ruger 44 Carbine that wont put the last round in the magazine into battery. The round is completely out of the magazine but is not being pushed far enough up to engage the bolt in time to enter the chamber.

What is my problem?

Weak spring?

My brother was home today. That's what he said. Weak magazine spring.

Weak spring or something is hanging the follower up in the last inch. Corrosion possibly. I had a similar problem with mine. It would fire one or two and then fail to load the next. Turned out it was a cracked trigger group housing. Back then Ruger supplied a fix and my gunsmith repaired it. Fix is no longer available. Good luck. David
