44 cabine ammo choices

I know the 44 carbine (deerstalker) was developed around the 240gn 44 magnum. And I know that lead bullets will heavily foul the gas port. I'm wondering if semi jacketed rounds like Winchester's Big Bore 44 would be okay or should I run full jacketed ammo?

Pretty sure JSP or JHP is the way to go. As long as the jacket covers the bearing surface of the bullet.

240gn JSP with exposed tips in my ‘66 as the front of bullet doesn’t touch the bore. Medium to hot loads all work well

I've shot Hornady 200 gr XTPs in my '61 with good success. Shot a few NC whitetails with it while living there. Would be interested to hear how the FTXs perform?

I really like Hornady's 265 grain jacketed flat-point (designed for the .444 Marlin) in the Ruger carbine and my Redhawk revolvers.
