Since my first Ruger (Security Six) in 1973 I've owned upwards of 28 Rugers in ..22, 9mm, 357, 44, and 45 acp and 45 Colt, most of which have been sold including all single-actions but one. Suddenly I realized that I let too many horses out of the corral. I had 45 Colt components and dies and no 45 Colt revolver.
I have fixed that problem yesterday by acquiring a New Model Blackhawk in .45 Colt, built in 1980. It is i like new condition, hasn't been fired much, AND all cylinder throat diameters match at 0.4525". AND the price was right. I am tickledpink gunpowder gray!
This weekend I will fire up the 550 and cook some fodder. This Hawk will be fed the proper diet of smokeless at the range as soon as the weather arms up, along with a Hawk in 44 Magnum.
Life is good!
