The .41 mag. Redhawk has proven to be accurate and reliable with several coyotes to its credit not to mention prairie dogs and companionship. Dr.C

Doc, nice pic once again. I never had the opportunity to hunt those critters you mention with a .41 Redhawk, but I did my share with a Blackhawk in .41 mag years ago in southwest Kansas. Prairie dogs and ground squirrel kill/shot ratio pretty low as I recall, but did OK with the coyotes. Nice Redhawk!
 
Cellar, I have access to dog towns where the dogs have never been shot at. They actually come out to see what the commotion is about! Ten to 20 yard shots are common, when they get smart then the .204, .223. and .220's come out! Dr.C
 
I shot more rattlesnakes with the handgun in the dogtowns than the prairie dogs... Some years the snakes got pretty thick and needed a little thinning out.

My favorite prairie dog cartridge was the simple .22lr (wait for them to show, kind of like squirrel hunting) and the .222 for the long shots; back in the day.
