41 magnun

I thoought I read somewhere that Ruger is making a run of 41 magnums on the same frame as the 44 special. I can't seem to find anything about these. Did anyone else see or know of these? The flat top frame of the 44 special is the perfect feel for me and I think I would have to get one in 41 magnum if it is the same frame

I heard it's on the 50th anniv. 44 mag frame and is a touch bigger than the 44 special frame. I hope to know in an hour or so when the package arrives!! I'll take pics and measurements on here.

The question of the flattops... 44 special vs 41 magnum have been answered. Well, they are being answered now at least.

I just got the 41 delivered and put it up against my 44 special... here is what it looked like. Notice the frame lengths.....

Here is my 44 special in my holsters. Notice the fit at the trigger guard.

And here is how the 41 fits in this wet formed and fitted (to my 44 special) holster.

So.... we can see that the 41 Magnum is NOT based on the 44 Flattop's frame, but as some others have said... it is based on the 50th Anniv 44 Mag Flattop frame.

Measurements are:

44 Spec frame from under the rear sight to the front of frame .279"
41 Magnum same area measures .294"

Frame heights from the front area of frame, near seriel number

44 spec is 2.21"
41 magnum is 2.27"

Hope this clears it up. My 41 is going on the block! I only wanted it if it was the same frame.

Does it come in a Bisley grip?
