I recently bought dies and bullets to start reloading 9mm. Out of curiosity I performed the "drop" test with the JHP's into the 9mm cylinder. All fell thru. OK, then I tried some 357/125's and they fell thru also. Now I am wondering about seating a 110 or a 125 .357 bullet to the same seating depth as a comparable 9mm bullet and trying that in the blackhawk. Dumb idea ? Any thoughts ?

ALL MOST ALL FOREIGN 9MM PARABELLUM BARRELS are .357" I.D. The only American 9MM barrels that adhere to the so-called 9MM size, .355" I.D., are the ones made by S&W for their 9MM pistols starting with the M39 in the mid '50's. YOU can bet your ranch BR,SR used only 38/357MAG size BBLS in His SA convertibles.

Save yourself a lot of trouble and just measure the bullets. A half decent micrometer will solve the question of what size bullet to shoot through your cylinder...

You might get away with .357-.358 bullets in your convertible if they headspace ok but I doubt they will work in a 9mm semi-auto with a .355 barrel. :D

LET ME NOTE THIS : I have used .358" bullets in 9MMPARABELLUM pistols for 50 years with no untoward problems. Even the old style Speer 158GR SWC swedged bullets went through my old S&W M39-2 slick as pppphhhiitt through a goose and were highly accurate.

I haven't been doing it that long but for many years my 9MMs have been shooting .357 jacketed bullet handloads very well. Haven't tried the .358 cast yet.

We go to a lot of trouble to load ammo safely by the book. When I look at what the manufacturers say for 9mm it is .355 jacketed and .356 lead.

A Blackhawk convertible definitely has a .357 barrel and would be safe with .357 jacketed and .358 lead bullets.

I would really like to see what the pressure of shooting a .357 jacketed bullet through a .355 barrel is? :D

Dang, shoulders ^^

.....you almost made a post without an all caps word.

Imma gonna make some in .358" with more power than posta justa prove it will work in a BH.
