338WM Guide Gun Muzzle Brake

FYI, it sure does work well. I got a chance to shoot my 338wm with and without the brake today. I felt very little recoil using some 185gr GMX's with the brake, only problem is it'll ring my ears through my Peltor muffs! Moderate recoil without the brake.
For now I'm leaving off the brake. I can't imagine having to shoot it with no hearing protection with the brake on. That brake should really help off the bench though.

I have the Guide Gun in 338 RCM. I recently shot it with and without the brake. Up til then I have only shot it with the brake, in which recoil feels less than my 308 American. I wanted to see the difference in recoil as well as check POI with the non-brake counter weight. Recoil was still very manageable (to me), but big difference in muzzle rise without the brake. Shooting at 50 yards, I shot 2 shots with 185 GMX with and 2 without the brake. Then I did the same with 225 SST's. One big hole with no change in POI.

I hope to try the 225 SST's as soon as my RL19 gets here. What optic are you using on your RCM?

I have two for it. I put a TRACT 2-10x42 on it when I first bought it. I'm heading to Maine bear hunting next week so I put a Weaver Classic Extreme 1.5-4.5x24 on it. This is an illuminated 30mm scope. These are on sale for around $200 at Natchez right now.

I am not sure if I will use this or my 5" Super Redhawk 44 in Maine.

Whose rings are you using? I'm reading pros and cons with either Ruger or Leupold rings.

Ruger Rings. Never had a problem with them. Since one scope is 1" and the other is 30mm, they both have their own set of rings. Simple on/off and no change in impact.

I've got an unused Vortex Viper 1-4x24mm illuminated scope I'm going to try when the 30mm rings arrive. With it's long eye relief it should be a hoot to try out.
