Well, I finally got one of the new 327 Birdhead Single Sevens last Saturday. It's heavier than I anticipated, but after I find a suitable holster it will become my everyday carry for the cooler months. I am going to get out and run it through the wringer today. I hope it likes the hand loads I have worked up for the other 327s I own.

Fit and finish are typical Ruger. Plenty good enough for me. Grips fit fine, it has a few tooling marks here and there but it won't affect function at all. It ain't a Freedom Arms, but cost about $1800 less.( if F/A made one) If it is mechanically sound I'll be a Happy Happy man. Now where is that Henry?

These really interest me - but I wonder how much POI/POA difference there is at ~20 yards or so with fixed sights and the wide array of ammo this will swallow. I'd like one of these for a "kit" or trail / hiking gun, but it seems like I'd have to dial in the right handload to use it for that to handle getting meat for the pot or survival hunting, etc.

I shot about 200 handloads with an 85 grn XTP and AA9 yesterday that was close enough to POA for me. About 1" high and 1" left at 25 paces, close to 25 yards. This is my carry load in a 4 5/8 SS and will be my carry load in the Birdshead. My plinking load is a homecast 98 grn SWC and Trail Boss or Unique. These bullets are too long for the SS if you crimp in the crimp groove, I have to crimp on top of the front driving band. They shoot great, but I like to crimp in the groove. I did not shoot any of these yesterday so I don't know how they will act in the Birdshead. I have a new 90 grn RNFP mold I want to make work in these revolvers but I have not cast any yet and it's too blame hot to try right now. I hope I can manipulate the 90's with different powder and charges to make them shoot to POA.
