I am beginning the process of looking into Sp101 in .327. What is the availability of ammo been like for those who have this caliber? Is it difficult to find still or has production improved(the ammo)? Also what grain are people using for SD.

I was kinda wondering the same thing. I'm waiting for reloading components to become more available especially brass. Haven't check Starline recently hope it's starting to roll out. ps

My local gun shop usually has about 4 - 6 boxes on the shelf.
And always about 4 boxes of hornady bullets for it.

I don't have that much trouble finding it. Seems like American Eagle 85 gr, or 100 gr (usually runs $22 - $25 box). Also Speer Gold Dot 115 gr. I purchased a bunch, and once it's all shot I will begin reloading for it.

Well, I'm pretty much a reloader,, so I rarely check for factory ammo. I did talk to Starline a few months ago about them making brass for the 327 mag. So far,,not in their plans. I think it's due to all the back orders they are trying to fill on other calibers. I plan on continuing my quest to get them to offer that brass.
However,, factory ammo,, when I've been in a few shops where the ammo selection goes a bit beyond a few boxes,, I've seen some available.

I also emailed them "encouraging" them to make .327 brass. I agree that they are so far backordered on stuff they already make that they're not likely to take on something new at this time. Now, if one of the large distributors ordered 100,000 or more, that might get their attention. That kind of $$$ always talks.
ETA: Don't I remember that Freedom Arms had Federal brass?

Federal American eagle 327 fed mag with 100 grain softpoints have been costing me $25.99 a box of 50.

I found a gun shop that manages to get it. Right now I only have a box of 50, Federal American Eagle 100 grain. Cost with tax was $29 and pennies.
Until the .327 ammo becomes more readily available, I plan to just shoot some warm .32 H&R mag loads. I have 1000+ rounds of empty brass.

I usually pick up a box or two at the local gun shows. Once I get enough of it I can shoot it all up for the brass then start loading for it.

Actually, if what one want's is a hotter .32 Mg., then he can handload it to pretty respectable velocities as it is, if you use good strong guns like the Smith or the Ruger guns.
I have loaded the 100 gr. bullet to over 1200 fps for years with no problems at all in the Smith model 16 and the Ruger Single Six. I have no doubt that the SP101 would handle the same loads, although there would be some velocity loss due to the shorter barrel.

Man you guys! I am catching a sickness here. I has happened on many occasions. I didn't own a ruger 3 months ago and now I have a SP101 in 9mm and .357 and a 4 inch Security Six. My Rugers are becoming demanding on my wallet.
