.32 Mag Light Load Data?

I bought a box of Berry's .312" 71 grain RN (plated) bullets http://www.berrysmfg.com/product-i15019-c9-g8-b0-p0-32_Cal_312_71gr_RN___1000ct.aspx and want to load 'em light. Perhaps only 700 fps or so. Am thinking that load might be fun in my Ruger Single Sixes and S&W J frame .32 Mag.

Trail Boss would be an obvious and easy choice, I suspect. Am not crazy about how Trail Boss meters, but some deviation with Trail Boss isn't critical.

Am loading some with 2.0 grains of Tite Group to test.

Also have Clays and WST.

Anyone ever try a light load with a 71 gr bullet? (Or close in weight.) Any load recommendations with said powders?

I used titegroup for my .32 magnum and .32 long loads. I have not used the 71grain bullet you describe but I have downloaded the .32 magnum down to a measured 1grain of titegroup(under a 98gr lead bullet) and fired it through a 6.5" single six. It was quiet enough to shoot indoors without hearing protection. I did not chrono the round but at 30' it did still penetrate one fold of some carpet scraps I had lying around. I have recently thought of trying the same thing you are proposing with a light bullet.

After our End of Year steel match (Revolvers Only) today, I chronographed the 71 gr Berry's bullet with 2.0 grains of Tite Group in my S&W M332 (six shot J frame.) Didn't try it in my Single Sixes.

As it was late afternoon, the sun was not exactly overhead; not sure how accurate my readings were (but probably fairly accurate.)

I wanted a light load - and I got it! Only approximately 510 fps! Ha! Accuracy was only so so, but then I wasn't concentrating much on group size. Most definitely quite pleasant to shoot; probably not much more recoil than a .22.

While I am after a light load with this bullet, I will increase the powder charge a bit and try for approx 700 fps or a bit more.
