32 H&R split cases?

Safe or not I wouldn't shoot it myself. I'm very surprised a rep of Federal would say it's safe given how conservative the gun and ammo industry is with liability issues. I'd think they'd be falling all over themselves to get that ammo back. Just seems strange to me they would say it's alright to shoot that ammo whether it is or not.

I have an email from them to fall back on, so I will take them at their word. I did fire half a box with no real issue other than a little hard extraction on occasion and WAYNO got spit at a little.

I went through this scenario "back in the day". Federal replaced my boxes of split brass with New Ammo.

When I bought my first .32 H&R Magnum (I now have three) it was a Ruger Single Six. Federal stopped selling components to reloaders right after I bought the revolver. They were the SOLE supplier of those cases at the time.

Every time I fired the factory loads, I lost several cases a box to splits (just like yours). Every time I reloaded them same thing happened.

I am still miffed at Federal...

I bought several thousand .32 S&W Long cases and never looked back. Of course, I load them to "Long" levels. Since I mostly shoot target loads it was not a problem.

When Starline announced they were going to release cases in .32 H&R I was in the first batch that signed up. I became a Starline fan and have been ever since.

Bottom line to O.P. - there is nothing wrong with your revolver. Call up Starline and order out a batch of cases or do as I did - order a bunch of first nighter .32 S&W Long cases if you only want to shoot target loads.
