I see Ruger has finally gotten smart and chambered the 1A in a 308 for 2011. What a perfect combination, I can't wait. Other chamberings include the 1H 458 Lott, 1 International in a 300 RCM and several with the 6.5 Creedmor chambering.
 
Yup, Lipsey's started listing these a few weeks ago. I still don't see the allure of short action cartridges in the #1 platform but then again any 31 is a nice one. 8)
 
I need to dig through the safe and sell a couple guns as I want a light #1 in 308 really bad and just never saw one for sale. I need to order one in case Ruger only does one run on me!
 
1/4, I felt that way when I saw the 6.5 Swede, its perfect for my spot and stalk hunting method. Its a joy to carry and the Swede just massages the deer into my possession! :D
 
The sku for the 308 #1A is 11359. I've been searching 3 different distributors since early December for one. So far, none have shown up. I acquired one of the 30-30 #1A's from Lipsey's with the thought of rechambering it, but fortunately one of by friends bought it for a Christmas gift for himself. If the 308's are as nice as the 6.5 X55's and the 257 Roberts #1A's,the wait will be worth it. THEN along came the Scout rifle, now I need both. Bob!!! 8)

It is unusual that Ruger has dropped all their 1B models for several different 1A's. I wonder if they are getting all they goody they can out of the 1A offerings, then will discontinue them and bring the 1B back again.
The 1A .308 hasn't been produced since the non-prefix sn days. With the 1B .308 making a brief re-appearance a few years ago and then being dropped again, I sure can't see them selling too many 1A's in .308.
Smells like another good investment gun.

I for one, am happy to see more offerings in the #1A. To me, they're just classier than the B's are. Gotta have sights! 8)
 
I've always liked the #1A, but only had one in 7x57 back in the 80's for a brief period. The other 3 chamberings are so mundane as to not bother and I often opined that if they would make them more unique calibers, I would snap one up. In the last year, I had to put my money where my mouth was; adding a 257 Roberts, 6.5x55, 303 Brithish, 300 H&H(#1S), 35 Whelen, and a SS 45-70(#1S). I sold two of the 30-30 #1A's to buddies. So, as previously mentioned, there have been no 308 #1A's since I was in high school and knew not of such things. Myself and two friends are patiently waiting for the return of the 308 #1A, a rifle I would have bought decades ago, if Ruger had made them(just like my 44 Special Blackhawks). Enjoy!! Bob! :D
 
I just hope they make enough of them that they remain available long enough for me to get one. I went to one of my local shops to handle a Ruger 1A in any caliber (they had none) and ended up falling in love with the Limiter Winchester 1982 Deluxe Take down rifles in 45 Colt so there went the money I could have spent on the 1A in 308.

The way my budget looks, I hope to have enough to buy a 1A this June at earliest now so I hope that not everybody has been waiting for these. It would be nice if Ruger makes them for a couple years but I have learned to not expect that things will be around in a year with Ruger!
 
At least the 308 is a catalog item, not limited run calibers like the ones I mentioned in my thread. Probably, 98% of most rifle buyers don't even know #1's exist. I expect the 308's will sell well at first when the folks in the know buy them up, then slow down. I'd like to see them add the 7-08 and 358 Win to the list as the 6.5 Creedmore will cover the 260 Remington. Hopefully, everyone that wants one can get one. I would encourge all that are pleased with the new products, E-mail the CEO at Ruger's website. I actually received a reply from him during 2009 when I complained that it looked like they were going to run out of 44 Special Blackhawks before I could get one. He stated that as long as they were selling, they would continue manufacture. They were catalog items in 2010. Bob! 8)
 
I had little confidence Ruger would chamber the #1 in .358, due to the emergence of the 35 Whelen, so I re-barrelled a #3 to .358 Win. Would love a #1 SS/W in 35 Rem!!! Great old classic caliber!
