To start, I replaced a Type-1 with another Type-1 barrel, Ok so far, I only needed to cut .008 from the barrel just in front of the thread so the sight alignment worked out. I did not have to remove anything from the back of the barrel to get .005/.006 B/C clearance, what luck I thought.
Ok I think this is going to work out well. I put the gun back together, rotate the cylinder (inside the frame) and dang, it stops turning. I check everything, I have good clearance. But as I'm turning the cylinder it hangs up at the same place again.
As it turns out it does it every time. What the heck is going on? Thanks for looking. Randy

Check the cyl gap at each chamber with the hammer cocked. If there's a little cyl end play, the cyl hand can push the cyl forward until it rubs the barrel.

Have you pulled the cyl out and looked for a rub mark on its front face from the barrel at the chamber that locks up?

Have you chucked the cyl up in the lathe and checked for cyl front face runout? I've had to square up a cyl or two.

Have done first two several times. even took barrel off still locks up. I'm thinking it has something to do with lock work

Does it lock up or hang up, you said both but they're different things.

Can't be the lockwork if your turning the cyl by hand and it hangs up.

No other parts changed? Tell me how and what else you've checked before we play 20 questions. What does "I check everything" mean?

Does the cyl turn freely on the cyl pin when they're both out of the gun?

Is the gas bushing in front of cyl square?

What do you do to get the cyl to move when it's locked up?

Hondo44 any chance you would PM me a phone #? I not much of a typing person. If not I understand. But I have had pin and Cyl. out spins free, rolled pin to check that it was straight, how do you check if bushing is square? It does not hang up when turning cyl. by hand (sorry if I made you think that)
