Thinking of 36-40 grain bulk pack stuff like we used to get at the big box stores, Rem, Win, & Fed 550 packs.

If nothing out of the ordinary happens and prices keep falling along with increased availability, where do think the price will settle in at?

My apologies to Wayno & CraigC whom had already voted, but I felt the need to edit some numbers. You may vote again if you desire.

I think it will come down some, maybe to around 5 cents a round or somewhere just below $30 a "brick" but not to where it was before the hoarding started.

May all those responsible wake up with fire ants on their hemorrhoids. :)

The best I've seen on-line is $21 for a Federal Auto Match 325 bulk pack and $19 locally as a "Grand Opening Sale" special with "limited quantities" available.

Just got an ad in my email for 5c per round, of course you have to buy 5000. Miss the $20 box of 525 or 550 at WalMart.

Yeah, I miss when it $8.98 a brick for the 550 Federals at Wally World. And as to the OP, I don't think the price will go down much at all. It will take a long time if it does. Too many people that couldn't get it for too long. And, the ammo companies and dealers know now that lots of folks will pay outrageous prices for it!

Merchants need to wake up and realize there's a lot of ammo sitting on their shelves that they're going to lose money on. If they sell at a reduced profit(or no profit) now, there MAY be a chance to get back into the game at a lower price before the summer 22 plinking season gets underway.
End of the year??????? No clue as to where that price will be. We're now at the point of having to import ALL our bullet lead so prices may begin to fluctuate like oil.

PS,
My plan is decide what price level you're comfortable with and buy what you NEED. If the price goes down, buy what you WANT to have on hand. I'd have to be under the 4 cent mark(all costs included) before buying much more since I just made a big buy @ just over 4.25 cents last month.

In 2009 or 10 there were some intermittent shortages that naturally caused price fluctuation. But when things settled I purchased several of the previously mentioned 550 packs for $22 + tax, that was wally world & the best price in my neck of the woods. A few buckets o bullets were also ordered from Natchez, same price per round. Today it's still written with a sharpie on the wall of my reloading room, 22LR 4 cents 2010.
I think it will be back to that, hope so. The 2-3 cent stuff that that some have mentioned in these type threads always had me wondering...when, 1980?

I said 6 cents also. I don't think their will be much of a jump or decrease in prices. Unless there are external forces like a price hike in oil and gas...and shipping costs go through the roof.

I quit buying when the cases of 5250 went past $185 delivered.
There's quite a bit of ammo advertised at 6-6.5 cents right now.
Tom just called from someplace in St. Louis(maybe Cabela's) and read off a whole list of 22 ammo on their shelves @ 8-12 cents per. A month back, he called from Quincy IL with the comment that there were PALLETS of 22 ammo in the aisles. Compare that with BPS in Columbia MO that hasn't had an entire carton of 22 on their shelves anytime I was there in the last couple of years. I haven't been in a store in north MO over the last 3 years that had more than a couple dozen 50 round boxes to sell.
The "unknown factor" is whether the stores only show a few boxes in order to sell at a higher price.

I still have 2 or 3 bricks with a $7.99 price tag from the mid to late 1980s. Back in the mid 1970s, we could go to the local general store and buy rounds for a penny, they would open a box of 50 and sell you as few as you had $ for. Did the same with shot shells.

Before Christmas I bought 525 bulk packs of Remington Golden Bullets for $27.99 plus tax. They had CCI SV for $3.99 per 50. Dealer said that companies dump their overstock at the end of the year. If that's so, then I'll look for some good prices again in November.

Right now it's 6 to 7 cents a round here. The 333 packs are $20.00 or so, not including sales tax. I don't expect it to go any lower but hold out hope it will.

We're held hostage by the retailers who are held hostage by their suppliers. It'd be plum stupid for a retailer to buy this and sell it for a loss hoping that would attract people back in the future.

Well I'm late to the game but I'd say 4-5 cents. I saw it somewhere the other day for just under 5 cents.

I could live with those prices.

In 2000 the local wally world routinely had Fed HV for 9.89 a brick. A little over .02 with tax.

2000 sounds like not long ago but that's 17 years. I'm sticking with a low of 4 cents. The high here was I think 12 cents and now it's roughly half that in some local stores.

59% have voted 5-6.5 cents and it's in that range now. In that case, those folks need to be buying. I'll buy even more than I already have at the 4(ish)cent price. I don't see the 2 cents per shot coming back and with the loss of a domestic lead source, things could get far worse under the right conditions.

If I found it around 5 cents, I would be buying a lot of it but I just don't see it. Most ~500rd bulk packs I see are still around $35-$40.

I got an email today notifying me the Aguila sub-sonic my muffled 10-22 likes(the limiting factor of that combination is the optic) is available @ $3.49/50. Unfortunately, shipping adds another 1/2 cent so I'm going to wait for a better deal. The stuff is so darned accurate that I'm VERY tempted even @ 7.5 cents per shot.

Aguila standard vel can be had for under 5 cents so I would wait also if I could. Sub didn't used to cost more than standard, so it probably just needs to become more available.

I can't help but notice a lot of references to "can be had" and "I saw it somewhere the other day", 'Online price..... and then there's shipping......'.
I'm sure somewhere in the world is a dusty box that fell behind a counter in 1927 that still has 14 cents marked on it, but that means nothing to the general public who are out to buy some ammo. Even if you have some local special event it means very little to the rest of the country. I'd say the only REAL indicator of the price is what can MOST people buy it for where it's actually in stock MOST of the time, (sorry Wally-world), and from a source that MOST people have access to.

I think the regular retail prices will remain about the same as they are now. But it’s a good probability, IMO, that we’ll see a lot of it “on sale” on a more frequent basis. Places like Academy, Cabela’s, Sportman’s Guide, Midway, Bass Pro, just to name of few, have had RF ammo on sale off and on about every week now for the past few months..……and will continue to do so.

I picked 6-6.5. But then, I'm in Illinois so nothing ever really drops in price. If the price drops, they'll just raise the ammo tax at blame it on corporate greed.

The shipping does usually kill the good online prices. I've seen the "sales" also but I'm still waiting for it to drop a little lower. Walmart is the cheapest but they don't get it in consistently.

Price comparison I saw a couple days ago.

Remington golden bullet 100 rounds for 7.76 at walmart vs 13.99 at turners. I think turners is here in california only. That's quit a big difference. It all depends on where you get it.

WM in Plainview Tx had around 30 rem golden bullets 100 rounds boxes last Sat. the sign said 17.82 per box when I asked if that was the right price the lady said she guessed it was but I wanted her to ck she went to ck and never came back I don't think this was the right price on these but they were still there Sun. and the sign still said 17.82 per box. this couldn't be right I don't think that's higher than I ever seen it in the last 3 years but I haven' seen any around here in a while

17.82 can't be the price. I'd go back and get someone to check. They should be the same price is my guess. 7.76

Wouldn't hurt to go back if it's in your area.

I know that wasn't the right price on them but getting someone to help in Wm around here you better have plenty of time to waste ask my wife.
