223 WSSM

I traded for one of these because a neighbor said he wanted one. Well, he didn't want it as bad as he claimed he did so now I have the darned thing and want to shoot it.
I'm trying to come up with a decent load w/o burning up what's left of the bore so looking for a shortcut.
Manuals indicate powders from 4064 to 7828SC. I'm thinking Ramshot Big Game or Hunter since I have plenty of those and don't use either in many rounds I load. I'm perfectly fine with loading slightly below max to preserve the bore as long as I can keep groups under 1". Anyone else use these choices in this dumpy little rocket?

Mobuck - What kind of rifle did you end up with? I only ask because some of the WSSM rifles are truly diminutive, and it makes them very handy. I have a Browning A-bolt in .204 Ruger (built on the same length action) and it feels tiny in my hands.

As an aside, they built .204 Ruger A-bolts on two different actions (short and super-short), and they take different scope bases. This led to quite a bit of annoyance whenever I was scoping mine...

This is one of the lightweight 22" barrel blue with synthetic stock. Very nice handy easy to carry rifle. I think it's going to get traded soon. Just not what I need or want. Still kind of PO'd at the guy who told me he wanted one just like this. Hope I can get most of my investment back out of it.

If you do end up keeping it I'd just download it some, & try to preserve the brass & bore.

It's SPF locally. At least I recovered about 80% by the time I drive 100 miles to meet the buyer.

Sounds like a plan. I never had much interest in the 223 WSSM, after the 223 I go with the 22-250 then 243.
