You guys that are into these American 'Hysterical' Foundation guns missed out...the very gun pictured above in the original post and it's hand-engraved cousin were both sold just a few weeks ago. The PAIR sold together for $700 (+ buyer's premium) @ Rock Island Auction (lot #1993). I believe this is less than the 1991 AHF 'issue' price. Doesn't surprise me though, as I've never once considered AHF guns to have any investment potential when purchased at list.

Same with their fancy engraved Winchester rifles... they never even return their original purchase price. As an investment, you're better off putting your money with Bernie Madoff.

Let me rephrase that . . . collectibles, maybe . . . good investments, rarely.

Both of these pictured above now for sale on the local forum (again, not mine). He's asking $1400 and $900.

Anyone know what the AHF issue price was for the engraved 'Presdents' model? With a little research, I found that the model with the gold decals and white grips was offered in 1991 for $995 + another $150 for the optional display case.

Also, in case anyone is wondering, the white-gripped model was "strictly limited to only 950 worldwide, to assure rarity and collector value".

I'll bet there are folks out there with complete collections of these "pseudo goodies". Think of all the "special" single-action revolvers and 1911-type stuff we have seen offered.

Interestingly enough, a complete collection of all these, and the rifles as well, would make a fascinating display.

Just about anything sold as a "collectable", isn't. At a pre-show get-together for Antiques Roadshow, the MC told us that he wasn't an expert, but had learned that there were three things you shouldn't waste your time bringing to the show:
rocking chairs, treadle sewing machines, and Hummel figurines.
