I bought a new Ruger MkIII 22/45 Hunter a couple of months ago. It has given me and my wife about 500 rounds of fun and enjoyment. Until now.

Took it apart for cleaning and re-assembled it with little problem. It has been a part a few times since I've owned it and I review by watching the video every time.

This time, I put it back together as usual, took it back out the following weekend to shoot and now theres a problem.

Load a full mag, rack it, fire the first round, no problem. It cycles fine and loads another round. However it does not re-cock the gun. Pullt the trigger, nothing. Using Winchester SuperX High Velocity. Tried 3 other types of ammo just to be sure. No dice.

I took it down at the line, and reassembled it with the same problem. Took it home, watched the video and did it again.

Just got the chance to test it today. same problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Internet gunsmithing is risky, at best. Wonder if for some reason the bolt isn't going fully to the rear and thus the hammer doesn't get set on the sear? Hammer probably "follows" the bolt forward?

:?

Edited to correct my screwup.

Just didn't know if it was common enough for someone to say, "did you forget to XYZ."

Give Ruger a call. Often times they can walk you through things to get the problem solved. Twice so far, I had problems resolved on the phone by a tech from Ruger.

I'd try re-assembling it per Ruger's instructions in the manual .... They're actually very good.
