I have a 2011 Hawkeye in .223 that appears unfired. I am trying to sope it, but relized that the rings are sitting on different levels on the action. Am I correct or confused?
I tried the low rings (no go because of the high bolt throw), I think I can manage wth mediums but now it looks like I need a combination? Appreciate any input. Thanks

You might not have the correct rings.
Number 1's and others use the same ring, front and back. 77's have different rings for the front and back.
You will probably be money ahead by buying a new matched pair.

Got my answer, shopruger.com/scope ring chart. Looks like I might get lucky with a low front and medium rear (have both). Thanks

That combination is what I use on my .30-06 Hawkeye, with a Leupold
VX-1, 2-7 x 33mm scope.

I'm considering changing over to a VX-2, 3-9 x 40mm Leupold on that rifle. Looks like I may need to go to medium front/high rear ring set, for the bigger scope.

What you need is either a medium or high pair.
No need to buy a high set and a medium set.
The 77 will have one ring taller than the other.
Look on Midway, they have dimensions for some of their rings they sell. They do sell Ruger rings, I bet you need a medium set for your 77.
