1993 MK II target has arrived and am looking for information on that production year. Can anyone suggest a location where it may be found?
Thanks.

Under "customer service" tab, "instruction manuals and product history"
Then you will probably need to contact Ruger for more info.

Thanks for the replies, guys, and sorry for being so general about the question. I have visited that site for the instruction manual and the year of manufacture. My question, more specifically, had to do with the breakdown of the number produced within a given model year. For example: how many were MK II (bull barrells, stainless, target, etc.) Just trying to get some idea of the actual number made in 1993, that were blue, bull barrell, as opposed to stainless, for example. I know they made a bunch of them, just trying to find out where mine stands in the breakdown, that year.

It's bad enough that you can't get much info on the phone, but I read where Ruger does/did not always follow a consecutive S/N system for different runs of guns in a particular year. If that's true that is why finding out info like you want may be impossible. Try calling Ruger factory customer service and see if, for a fee, what info they can send you.

Ruger does indeed batch guns without regard to consecutive serial numbers.
If they detect a mistake for example, they'll set aside that production lot and later sell it to a distributor as an "exclusive", which may extend into the next calendar year. It is little known as a way to over-plate or refinish certain lots. We suspect the SP101 guns with the media-blasted grey finish as a lot of "spotted" stainless guns. Anyhoo, that production lot had a run of s/n's that threw the year's consecutive run out of whack.

The Ruger site showing a year's starting s/n is the best predictor, although there are numerous anomalies...

All serial numbers are run consecutively when they go through he sn'ing machine. But its when the sn of a particular gun gets function firing and final inspection as to when its manufacture date might occur. Then, there are also guns that were shipped from the factory decades after they were "manufactured".
Its not really a tricky science...its just normal manufacturing procedure.

The only exception to the above is in regard to a new model, Ruger usually starts at #500 for a Newport produced model and #2000 for a Prescott produced model. After Ruger is satisfied that all the bugs have been worked out, they usually (not always!) go back and retro-number the earliest sn's.

Chet15,
Thanks for the additional information. It's far more complicated a process at Ruger than I ever imagined. I was just curious as to how many were produced that year, configured the same way as the one I have.
