1976 blackhawk

I have finally saved enough money for a Lipsey's 44spl blackhawk but was offered a 1976 45lc 45 acp conversion for 400. Thinking of going for it I can always buy a lipsey's later what do you guy's think?

Think about the particular role you want the gun to fill. The 45 Colt will give you more potential on the upper end of the power scale if hunting is in the future for the gun. The ACP cylinder will give you cheap plinkin' and practice or fill the delf defense roll nicely. For an all around packin', plinkin', light end of the hunting spectrum gun the Special is a classic in that role. If I had that choice I would have to think long and hard on it.

I really just want it more for a collection already have a 45lc nm 4 5/8 inch barrel figure I don't see a lot of the bicentennial models out here at least can always get the special later

+1 on the 45 convertible. I got a 7.5 inch OLD MODEL 45/45 ACP convertible last summer for $575. I handload for everything I own, so ammo isn't a problem. While I like 44s...and have a bunch of them....the 45 convertibles aren't that common. It being a LIBERTY makes it even more desirable.

The various 44 Specials are easy to acquire and more variations are coming out. I passed on a 5.5 inch blue BISLEY 44 Special several months ago for under $450. (I've got about 2000 nickle plated 44 Special empties that I got a DEAL on...used them for CAS loads in my VAQUEROS.)
