1965 old model Blackhawk...357 mag....

I have had an old model 357 Blackhawk (1965 vintage..4 5/8" bbl for a long time....To the best of my knowledge it's never been altered or modified and is clean enough to pass for unfired in most circles...I have never fired it...it's been in my safe (climate controlled) for a very long time...I've cleaned and wiped it down along with my other handguns at least yearly with CLP "collector". There is no box and no paperwork with the revolver. Any "smudges" on the picture are just handling smudges..since wiped down
I have a "blue book" from a year ago and have looked at the "completed sales" on G/B, etc but would like to get a realistic value of this...it's something I don't want to shoot if it has any collector value..it's in near perfect to perfect condition now and don't want to bugger it up. I'm getting too old to do much more with handguns...I have a couple I shoot on a regular basis and a safe full of "queens" I don't want to leave with my Wife when the train leaves the station..so I'm beginning to clean things out.

I live in Southern California and don't really know if the values here are different or not...I'm very realistic about things...I'd think this would probably have the value of just a really nice shooter for someone...just looking for any thoughts please.

Well, I tried to open the picture, and it never opened up.
However,,, a 1965 OM Blackhawk 357, 4-5/8" bbl, in minty condition is a nice gun. Unless the serial number is low, or attached to a personality, OR,,, it has a D, an S or other things to distinguish it from the thousands like it,,, the value won't be greatly increased.
The condition is a desirable thing, but lacking the box, shipper & paperwork does make a collector wish for the complete package.
If a person desires a collectable grade gun, and is willing to hunt for the rest of the package,,, then it can be worth a bit more than "normal" shooter grade guns.

All that said,,, without seeing the gun,,, I'd say it should be worth around the $550 ballpark.

697xx is the serial number and there are no "distinguishing" markings on it...I think at one time someone asked me about the marking on the rear sight adjusting area and asked if there was a particular name or mark which there is not...Your "general area" was about what I figured it might be worth..I got a friend here that loves Ruger Blackhawks and he might just buy it for around $500 if he wants it..no shipping hassles, etc...frankly I didn't want to over charge him...just get the value out of it.

Looks good, (thanks RR) and if you are willing to part with it to a friend for $500 & be happy, I'd say both of you will have a fair deal.
