I just recently took this pic of my early 1957 vintage flat gate Single-Six with an advertisement from the same era. Now all I need is an instruction sheet and a box!

yes, the box and papers would be nice but sadly the way they "marked" thr serial numbers on the end label of the box, the "change" of any numbers stands out....took us YEARS to find Momma a nice ,boxed example........

One thing that I noticed on your Flatgate. The Eagle appears to be one of the new ones made within the last year. Has the grips been replaced?

Sharp eye. Yes, the original grips had turned brown (from age?), and so the right grip has been replaced with a black one - the difference in the logo is very subtle, but you nailed it!

Nice Gun! Great picture.
There has been discussion in the past on
restoring the 'brown" grips to a fresh black
color with Ritt dye.
I have a few sets in the brown, and put one
on a Tri color LW. Looks good!

Those split top shippers are almost impossible
to find by themselves.

I do have the original grips - the right side grip is the one that turned brown. I investigated restoring the original color with RIT dye, but I worried about what it would do to the medallion. At the suggestion of a friend, he recommended application of black shoe leather dye (NOT polish). He said he had success with it, and it holds up well.

So I took his suggestion, and am pleased with the results. The repro grips are going into my box-o-grips now. Here's what I used.
