I ran across a 4 digit flat gate single six yesterday as I was setting up my table at the gun show. I would say it's in 98% condition all original parts. no original box. Guy wants $750 said i could have it for $700. I feel this is a decent price and been looking for a flat gate to add to my collection. what do you guys think?

Cool Gun!
If you want it, buy it. That is a fair price and like contender says if it's a T1, that's a steal.
Don't forget to ask about the box!

Not to get picky or argue, but the SN 1985 is the highest CONFIRMED T1.
There were 2000 +/- frames that were used out of the 4000 originals ordered, and I think it is probable that there are T1 versions between SN 1985 and 200X.
I would really like to buy/hear from anyone with a flatgate in that SN range!!

Cheers,
JAYDAWG

Type 2,, and if in 98% condition,, the RENE lists it for about $775.00.

Nice score there!
Thank you! I would say it's 95-98% gun. No turn line on the cylinder a faint bluing loss on the left side of the end of the barrel. After the gun show is over and get it cleaned up a bit more I will add some pictures.

Maybe a little high, but when are you going to find another, especially at 98%? Grab it!

I haven't had time yet to give it a proper cleaning too busy doing the gun show but I took some pictures. It has a great plum color with some lightning streaks in a few spots.

Question for you. Was this made in 1955 or 1954? When I looked it up online on rugers old model single six date made it looks like 1954. Guy i got it from said it was made in 1955. Serial number 8477. Thanks again for your help.

yes as I said above ,nice gun, and a very good deal , we like the pictures, and according to the RENE it was made in 1954 ,they went up to the #10,000 range that year.....maybe the seller was thinking he got the gun back in 1955( or the original owner maybe, if only it could talk..........);)(y)(y)
