Over the years Ruger's Customer Service has been heralded as "the best", however my latest involvement with them..."no so much." I have a SR1911 that I got in 2013. Had to send it back a few months later due to rust under the grip panel. They replaced it.
It had become my favorite gun. A few weeks ago the front sight broke off after a shot.
I contacted CS and was told they would mail me a new sight. After getting nothing after 2 weeks I called back. Was told it was in the system and I should get it in one or two more weeks.
After another 2 weeks I call again. This time I'm told that since my 1911 is older that I must SEND them the slide and that after they get it the wait would be at least another 2 weeks.
To their credit they sent me a shipping label and will replace the sight for free, but...
why didn't they tell me this a month ago on call #1 or two weeks ago on call #2?
Why not just drop the front sight in an envelope and send to me? I was planning on having my gunsmith install it anyway.
Think maybe I should not mess with sending it back and just order a Dawson Fiber Optic...but hard to give them the correct height since I can't shoot my gun to get an accurate measurement.
Still my favorite gun company...but Customer Service let my down this time.
