1903A3 Remington

Anyone know where I can get an original type stock for this rifle? It's got a sporterized stock on it now. I picked it up at a garage sale many years ago. Never even fired the thing.

Hi,

Have you checked with Numrich? A buddy bought a very nice Springfield some years that had the stock sporterized but no other mods. It seems we found wood listed with Numrich, but the metal bits might be a bit of a challenge.

I think you need to sell it to me... I've wanted one for years... it's what my father got issued in Korea after landing at Inchon ..... some one in his company figured out he really should not be the BAR man... at 142lbs and also he had shot a perfect score at Paris Island when qualifying at the rifle range. His 'O3 had a scope on it.

Thank you Steve but, I don't want to buy a stock if I can't get the mounting hardware that goes with it. I only paid $80 for this rifle and I've never fired it. I just thought it would be nice to bring it back to "as issued".

Thank you Steve but, I don't want to buy a stock if I can't get the mounting hardware that goes with it. I only paid $80 for this rifle and I've never fired it. I just thought it would be nice to bring it back to "as issued".

If you want to “correct” it then you need to learn more about it. If it’s a 1903a3 then it’s either a Remington or Smith Corona. If it’s marked Springfield then it should be a 1903 not a 1903a3.

A 1903 and 1903a3 stock and handguards are different as are the sights. The parts are all marked too so depending how far you want to get into this you can easily spend a lot of money trying to put this back into shape and a C stock is not going to be correct.

There are books on the subject so I can’t really post all the details but if you got this for $80 you should consider enjoying it as is until you can study up better. Otherwise you can spend a lot of money for wrong parts.

I checked it again, it's marked US Remington Model 03 A3. I got confused reading a lot of posts on the subject. Sorry guys.
