Dirty minds! :)

My dad had a blued 10.5" Super Blackhawk (SBH) in the 80's and I liked it quite a bit. I did not know how well recent production (2024) would work out but I was hopeful when I bought it.

Anyway, my first outing with the stainless 10.5" SBH was a hoot and a showstopper from every nearby shooter who stopped to look at it. It handled more like a hot short barreled .357 than a .44 magnum and every hammer drop made me smile.

The only minor "complaints" I had with it was seeing that black front sight in the rear notch. I wonder WHY Ruger decided to lose the red ramp for that black vertical type which I fixed with a touch of orange rock hard nuclear like UV curing gel nail polish on the front blade.

Anyway as with most of my magnums the wood grips had to go which I replaced with Pachmayer's as soon as I could get them.

If anyone is on the fence about buying one I'd have to say that the 10.5" is a best buy for anyone who wants a .44 mag to reach out with and it seems like the prices are pretty reasonable online.

I believe that model was designed to compete in IHMSA along with the 357 Maximum. Shooters would mark the “bad hole” Ruger was notorious for and fire only from their five most consistent chambers. The undercut front sight is to reduce glare and always give a sharp sight picture at the top of the blade.
